Update Samsung Galaxy A8 with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

Happy news for the Galaxy A8 users. People who want to update Galaxy A8 with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop can update their device with the same. Samsung has released the update in Hongkong, and you can use this tutorial to know how to update your Samsung Galaxy A8 with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The Android 5.1.1 build version A8000ZHU2AOK1 packs with improved performance and security updates. There is no other significant improvement on the interface. But this update will surely fix the bugs and will give a performance boost o your device.

Please note the check this steps before proceeding

  • Update this firmware only if you are using the Samsung Galaxy A8, model number SM – A8000.
  • You can check the phone model number in Settings-about-phone
  • Download the Samsung USB drivers and install it in your system before updating.
  • Download the latest ODIN app in your PC and install it to update your phone without the OTA update.
  • Disable any security features, antivirus, and Samsung KIES before proceeding.
  • Go to settings and tap in build number several times to enable developer options if not enabled before.
  • After enabling go to settings > developer option > and enable USB debugging
  • if you have installed any custom recovery image in your phone then you will need to factory reset your phone after performing the update.
  • Make sure that you have more than 50 % of the battery before starting the update process.

How to install Android 5.1.1 A8000ZHU2AOK1 Lollipop in Galaxy A8

  1. Download the firmware file A8000ZHU2AOK1 Android 5.1.1to your PC from  here
  2. Extract the downloaded contents into the desktop of your PC and you will get a file named A8000ZHU2AOK1 tar.md5. Don’t extract after this.
  3. Download Odin3 v3.10.6 and install it on your PC
  4. Switch off your device and reboot into download mode.
  5. You can enter into the download mode by pressing and holding volume down + home + power button
  6. leave the buttons when the device shows the warning screen, press the volume up button to enter into the download mode.
  7. Connect your device using USB cable and the Odin will detect your phone, if not try to reinstall the USB drivers and reconnect the phone.
  8. In the Odin, disable Re-Partition option and don’t change any other default options.
  9. Press AP to start the update process, you will be asked to select the firmware file.
  10. Select the  A8000ZHU2AOK1 tar.md5 to where you have extracted it.
  11. Hit start button to start the update process, once it done Odin will display a pass message.
  12. Reboot the phone in normal mode. First boot will take more than ten minutes, wait patiently.

If odin shows failed message, repeat the step once again.

To factory reset the device for people who have installed over a custom recovery image

  • off the Device
  • boot it in Recovery Mode.
    – press Volume Up, Home and Power at the same time.
    – release buttons when the Recovery Mode options screen loads.
  • select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’.
  • Confirm
  • reboot your device
